Artist. Advocate. Altruist.
Aaron Harris Shaw is a modern abstract artist, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. Based South Carolina, he travels between Greenville and Columbia SC. His roots stretch from Atlanta, New York, Clemson, and Greenville. The subject of his work varies from urban landscapes and nature to abstract expressionism and conceptual art. He's recently expanded his portfolio with work focused on more detailed human forms and figures, and recently murals.
Seeking refuge from past demons, a learning disability, and a dissolving marriage, Shaw discovered a passion for expressing himself with a paintbrush. It was not long before those around took notice of his talent.
Shaw's intensity is easily seen throughout his work, and each piece carries autobiographical elements.
"Every painting I do... there’s a part of me in it. Some of my best work has come out of times of incredible sadness and loneliness for me. I’ve painted while I was having panic attacks; while struggling with depression, while learning I had a good friend dying and there’s nothing I could do to stop it.
I don’t hide anything in my paintings. I 'leave everything on stage'. You can see if I’m sad or happy or angry when you look at my painting... they are a part of me. If my work doesn’t admit some emotion from you when you see it, then I don’t feel like I’ve done a good job as an artist."
Shaw now uses his platform as a philanthropic leader in the community, committed to helping others overcome their hardships. He seeks to mentor others in focusing their talents for a greater good. His most recent projects include;
